2008: I still prefer the Palm iQue 3600 even though if is outdated. [Due to ease of accessing data on PC and unit.]

Garmin Nuvi 800 is good with preloaded maps.  Search for best price on the net!

PS: Always purchase a car adapter that charges your GPS and amplifies voice directions that you can hear while you are driving.

I use this GPS and am very satisfied with it.

Drawbacks: Battery life is shorter than expected when not in a "Auto Kit" or "Sync Cradle" for a desktop or PC. PS: A SD card is recommended to store maps and data on!
